The Big Leap: How Facing Fears Expands Your World
There’s always a moment before a big leap where everything feels uncertain — the heart races. Doubt creeps in. Fear whispers that it’s safer to stay where you are. I’ve felt that many times. But I’ve also learned that when I step toward fear instead of away from it, something beautiful happens: my world opens up.
Going Back to School with a Brave Heart
One of the first times I faced that kind of fear was when I decided to go back to business school. I was older than most of my classmates and juggling a whole life outside the classroom. I questioned whether I’d be able to keep up or if I even belonged there. But something inside me kept saying, “Try.” And so I did. What I found wasn’t just knowledge — I found confidence. I learned I could navigate unfamiliar spaces and trust my ability to grow.
Letting Go Without Knowing What’s Next
Walking away from corporate America was another turning point. At the time, I didn’t have a clear plan. I just knew I couldn’t keep going the way I was. I gave myself space to slow down and listen. Instead of rushing to figure it all out, I started tuning in to what felt right, one step at a time. Eventually, that journey led me to create a travel company centered on meaningful experiences and connection. The process wasn’t tidy or linear, but it was true. And in trusting the unknown, I found a whole new direction.
Answering the Call to Teach Yoga
Becoming a yoga teacher was another leap I didn’t see coming. I had been practicing for years, but the idea of teaching brought up every insecurity I had. I didn’t look or sound like the teachers I saw in studios or online. But the call kept growing louder. So I signed up for training, unsure of what would happen. What I discovered was a deeper connection to myself — my breath, my voice, my inner rhythm. Teaching yoga has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my life.
How Yoga Led Me to Coaching
Yoga teacher training didn’t just deepen my practice; it also transformed my life. It changed how I listened to myself. As I became more connected to my inner compass, I realized how much I wanted to help others connect with theirs. That’s what led me to Wayfinder Life Coaching. It felt like a natural extension of everything I had been learning: how to tune into my truth, how to navigate uncertainty, and how to live a more aligned life. Coaching became a way to share those tools with others who are ready to grow and develop.
Fear as a Guide, Not a Barrier
In The Big Leap, Gay Hendricks discusses how we often hit an internal ceiling just when things are starting to go well. We sabotage or shrink, not because we’re not capable, but because we’re afraid of what comes next. But fear doesn’t have to be a stop sign. Sometimes it’s just a sign that we’re on the edge of something meaningful.
